Having a Guys vs. Gals race at LCYC sounded like a great idea at the beginning of the year when the Social Chair (that would be yours truly) put it on the yearly calendar of events. The reality began to set in about a month before the race when I suddenly realized we had no formal plan. What boats would race against each other, who would be the crew? Apparently territory has been breached, blood has been shed, butts have been soaked and the war of the Pirates of the Pool has begun.
Casual Wednesday night sailing has been escalated to rivalry amoungst members of LCYC. A battle for territory has waged between the lovely lady pirates of Gypsy Soul (aka, Hot Honeys of the Pool) and the gentlemen pirates of the good ship Happy Ours (aka HOs). The battle has raged on for weeks. No one will admit who drew first blood, but the stories get bigger and better...

Two of Lynn Creek Yacht Club’s members jumped to the rescue of two kayakers and become heros.
The race day started with fighting high winds, which seems to be the norm for this year. We were into the middle of the second race of the day (race 4 of the series), when two kayaks were spotted, but only one kayaker. The high winds and waves apparently knocked one of the kayakers over and flooded the kayak. The kayaker was in the water and unable to get back into the the boat. (Read More)
